Building Trust Online: Reviews and Testimonials for Contractors

    By Jaik

    Trust Is Everything

Hiring a contractor means letting strangers into your home and handing them thousands of dollars. That requires trust — and trust starts online.

92% of consumers read online reviews before making a purchase decision. For contractors, that number is even higher because the stakes are higher. A bad roofer can cause thousands in water damage. A bad plumber can flood your basement.

    How to Collect More Reviews

Most happy customers will leave a review if you make it easy:

    1. Text them a direct review link right after completing a job 2. Follow up 2-3 days later if they haven't left one 3. Make it specific — "We'd love it if you could mention the kitchen remodel on Google" 4. Never incentivize — offering discounts for reviews violates Google's policies

    Using Reviews on Your Website

Don't just link to your Google page. Embed your best reviews directly on your website:

  1. 3-5 reviews on the homepage
  2. Relevant reviews on each service page
  3. A dedicated testimonials page with all reviews
  4. Include the customer's first name and city for authenticity
  5. The contractors I work with who actively manage their reviews consistently outperform those who don't — in both rankings and conversions.
